Darien is a residential community of approximately 21,500 people spanning 14.9 square miles along the Long Island Sound.

Originally settled in 1645, the town features many restored Colonial homes, adding to its charm and historical value. The town is conveniently located only 38 miles from New York City, and commuters will find that nearby airports including Westchester, Kennedy and LaGuardia are easily accessible via Interstate 95 or the historic Merritt Parkway. The heart of the community is found in its town government, civic activities and public school system. Darien’s outstanding public library offers films and lectures in its auditorium throughout the year. Two public beaches, an ice-skating rink, an active YMCA and YWCA, a yacht club, boat club, several private clubs and numerous parks offer a wide range of activities for everyone. The Darien Arts Council sponsors a variety of art activities in the areas of music, dance, dramatics and the visual arts, appealing to all ages. Likewise, a garden club, adult education programs as well as philanthropic and creative courses are provided through the Darien Community Association.
